Setup
The
Asternic Call Center Stats
Setup menu is the administrative control panel. It defines the structure and access to all reports and data panels. It allows system administrators to perform actions such as: - Connecting to the PBX system (via AMI)
- Managing what data users can view
- Grouping and tagging queues/agents to generate clear reports
- Customizing the user interface and report behavior
- Automating and scheduling reports
- Applying translations and user-specific preferences
The setup menu includes the following sections:
Section | Purpose and Key Functions | Considerations |
---|---|---|
AMI Servers |
| This is the primary data source. Without it, Asternic cannot collect or display call activity. |
Access Control | Assign visibility permissions to user levels for queues, agents, and report tabs. | Helps isolate access by department, team, or management level (e.g., supervisors vs. administrators). |
Agent Groups | Create logical tags for agents (e.g., Support Team, Morning Shift). | Used for filtering and grouping in reports. Improves data readability and organization. |
Agents | Manage the list of agents and enable or disable them. | |
License | Displays license information: type, number of allowed agents, expiration. | Ensures compliance with usage licenses. Essential when expanding operations. Allows upgrading to a higher license. |
Plugins | Displays a list of available plugins. Adds optional features: dashboard widgets, CRM integrations, extended reports for additional reporting functionalities. | Extends system functionality without modifying the core. |
Preferences | Global system settings, such as time zone, SLA targets, format (e.g., dates, decimals), language backup. Can be configured globally (empty parameter field) or per user (parameter field with the username). At the bottom, there is a descriptive list of configurable parameters. | Important for aligning the system with business rules and expectations. |
Queue Groups | Groups multiple queues to facilitate report filtering and high-level metrics. | Helpful when departments have multiple technical queues (e.g., for different languages). |
Report Designer | Allows modifying the columns of existing reports with pre-set filters, columns, and styles. Creating new reports is not possible from the interface. To do so, the database must be modified directly via the command line. | Saves time by customizing reports to show only the necessary information. |
Schedules/Alerts | Automates the delivery of reports via email/SMTP and real-time alerts based on SLA or performance. For proper configuration, the command * * * * * /usr/bin/php /var/www/html/stats/sched_check.php must be executed from the PBX server's command line, and connected to a functional SMTP service. | Ensures management always gets the data they need without manual exports. |
Translations | Allows customizing report labels and user interface text for different languages or internal terminology (e.g., “Agent” → “Representative”). | Key for multilingual environments or brand-specific names. |
Users | Allows adding and managing user accounts for the Asternic web interface with role-based access. | Controls who can generate or view specific data. Essential for data governance. |
